The Al Saada building in Gaza City collapsed at around 2:00am, killing 21 Palestinians, including 12 children. Many of the residents were displaced families who knew the building was unsafe but had nowhere else to go. Survivor Muhammed Abu Saada described how the building suddenly collapsed while people were sleeping, destroying their homes and belongings. Gaza City Mayor Yahya Al Sarraj said rescue teams lack essential equipment due to Israeli restrictions and warned that about 2,000 more buildings are at risk. With reconstruction yet to begin, displaced families continue to live in dangerous structures.
