Five explosions have been reported on Iran's Qeshm Island, with residents also saying they saw two aircraft flying overhead. Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the reports. Further explosions have also been reported near Bandar Lengeh, close to the Strait of Hormuz, with eyewitnesses saying they came from the direction of the sea. Explosions have been heard in the area on previous nights, sometimes linked by Iranian officials to military activity or action by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against ships accused of using unauthorised routes through the strait. The reports come amid heightened uncertainty over whether the US-Iran war will resume or diplomatic efforts will produce a breakthrough. A Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran as mediators, including Qatar and Pakistan, continue efforts to facilitate negotiations. Messages are reportedly being exchanged between Tehran and Washington, but the two sides remain divided over the nuclear issue, including US demands concerning Iran's enriched uranium. Iran has also sent an envoy to China, amid reports Beijing may become involved in mediation. Al Jazeera's Mohamed Vall reports from Tehran.
