Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday criticized an agreement between the U.S. and Russia that would allow Moscow to provide diesel to the U.S., calling it an "investment in a war that must be ended."
Zelenskiy dismissed the accord, announced while a Ukrainian delegation was in the U.S. to discuss conflict resolution, as a "weak decision on the part of strong partners." He wrote on X that "Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world." He added that Russia would "repay" the diesel "with further terror and perfidy," and that allowing Russia to sell petroleum products would prolong the war rather than de-escalate it.
Donald Trump said in a social media post that he had agreed in a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia would immediately supply diesel to the U.S. and global marketplace, stating that lower prices for Americans "is my Greatest Priority."
