The XRP Ledger's (XRPL) batch transaction feature has officially gone live on the mainnet, enabling users to bundle multiple transactions into a single operation. This enhancement is anticipated to create new opportunities for both institutional and retail participants on the network.
The feature passed the majority threshold for activation two weeks prior to its mainnet launch, with 30 validators voting in favor and five against. XRPL validator Vet highlighted the significance of this functionality, calling it a "massively important functionality" that will support crucial use cases for institutions and retail builders.
Potential applications cited for the batch feature include over-the-counter (OTC) trades, delivery versus payment (DvP) settlement, non-fungible token (NFT) swaps, and trustless transaction execution dependencies. Vet emphasized that the creative possibilities for these use cases are extensive.
The rollout of the batch feature coincides with the opening of a new lending protocol version for validator voting on the XRPL network. This new version proposes closed-ended vaults and cash-basis accounting for lending activities.
As of October 9, 2026, XRP was trading around $1.38, showing a slight increase of less than 1% for the day, though it remained down over 7% for the week.
