Rubio also serves as President Donald Trump's acting national security adviser. Mike Needham, a trusted aide to Rubio, recently moved to the NSC as a deputy national security adviser. Chris Curran, another high-ranking Rubio aide, is reportedly among those being considered to replace McLaughlin.
