The West Bengal government has officially distributed portfolios among the ministers who were recently sworn into the state cabinet. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has retained several key departments, including home, land and land reforms, and power. Veteran journalist turned politician Swapan Dasgupta has been assigned the crucial Finance Department, while senior party leader Tapas Roy will lead the Industries, Commerce and Enterprises portfolio. Sharadwat Mukherjee has been appointed as the Health and Family Welfare Minister. Other key appointments include Shankar Ghosh for Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism, and Arjun Singh for Labour and Transport. Ministers of State with independent charge Malati Rava Roy will manage Women and Child Development, while Indranil Khan will oversee Youth Services, Sports, and Consumer Affairs. The council of ministers has a total strength of 41, comprising 13 Cabinet ministers, 22 ministers of state, and three ministers with independent charge, following the swearing-in of 35 MLAs on June 1.
