US District Judge Ana Reyes on Friday ordered an investigation into whether Department of Justice attorneys violated ethics rules in their defense of a lawsuit concerning President Donald Trump's planned renovation of the East Potomac Golf Links. Reyes expressed concerns that the attorneys had provided "materially misleading information" and omitted relevant details about the administration's plans. She appointed a special master to investigate further and ordered the attorneys to preserve relevant documents. The DC Preservation League sued in February to halt the administration's takeover of the course, alleging violations of environmental laws. Reyes had previously issued orders regarding advance notice of construction and blocked further tree removal after hundreds of trees were removed without notice.
