Uber announced on Thursday an expansion of its partnership with OpenAI, stating that its entire global workforce of approximately 30,000 employees will now use ChatGPT Work. The enterprise-focused AI agent, introduced in July, was initially piloted with 1,000 Uber employees across departments like finance, operations, and product. According to Sumanth Sukumar, Uber's VP of engineering, about 80% of early adopters were non-engineers who utilized the tool for analyzing operational data, localizing training materials, and managing daily work through personalized dashboards. Uber plans to track employee usage and outcomes to guide future AI deployments, with OpenAI collaborating on the integration.
