The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has introduced a new program called Gateside by TSA PreCheck, allowing eligible members to pass through airport security to reach departure gates without holding a flight ticket. This initiative aims to revive the practice of meeting and seeing off loved ones directly at the gate.

The program is currently being piloted at thirteen U.S. airports, including Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA), John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT), Indianapolis International Airport (IND), Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport (LIT), Will Rogers International Airport (OKC), Eppley Airfield (OMA), San Diego International Airport (SAN), and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

To participate, individuals must be current TSA PreCheck members with a Known Traveler Number. They need to apply on the TSA website between one and three days before their intended visit. Upon approval, they must present valid identification at the TSA PreCheck lane to gain access. Children accompanying an approved applicant are also permitted through if listed on the reservation. The TSA website indicates that more airports will be added in the coming months as part of a phased rollout.
