Trump Jr. accuses Cruz of lying about US-Iran deal

Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday publicly denounced Senator Ted Cruz, accusing the Texas Republican of fabricating information regarding a U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding aimed at reconstructing Iran. Trump Jr. asserted on the social platform X that Cruz was "lying thru his teeth" and acting contrary to MAGA initiatives.

Cruz had previously characterized the MOU as an "ill-advised" agreement that would not serve American interests, warning against providing significant funds to Iran. He suggested President Trump was receiving poor counsel on the deal.

The memorandum of understanding reportedly involves a $300 billion fund for Iran's reconstruction. While President Trump has stated that the U.S. federal government will not contribute any funds, companies from the U.S., Gulf Arab states, Asia, South America, and Africa have reportedly agreed to finance more than half of this amount. Payouts are intended for the energy, logistics, manufacturing, and transport sectors. Critics have also voiced concerns over provisions that would permit Tehran to retain its missile systems and expedite oil sales.
