Trump calls reporter 'the worst' after question on $5,000 voter promise

President Donald Trump reacted sharply to a reporter's question regarding his pledge to give US citizens a $5,000 "Trump dividend," calling the reporter "the worst."

On Wednesday, Trump announced that every US citizen would receive a $5,000 payment if Republicans maintain control of Congress in the upcoming midterms. This proposal could potentially cost over $1.3 trillion if universally applied, though Vice President JD Vance later indicated that wealthy individuals would be excluded.

When questioned by a reporter on Thursday night about the necessity of such an incentive if his economic policies were already working, Trump stated the dividend was intended as a reward for citizens enduring the "horrible situation caused by Biden." He reiterated that the payment was a recompense for the "five years, and four years, of a horrible, horrible situation caused by Biden."

As the reporter attempted a follow-up question, Trump dismissed her, saying "not you." When she pressed further, referencing a previous unfulfilled pledge for $2,000 tariff-rebate checks, Trump again interrupted and, leaning toward her, declared, "Your network and you, you're the worst."
