Tesla's sales of China-made electric vehicles rose 10.3% year-on-year to 67,829 units in October, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association published on November 3. The figure covers Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built at Tesla's Shanghai plant, including exports to Europe, Asia Pacific and Canada.
The annual growth rate accelerated from 5% in September and marked a 12th consecutive month of year-on-year gains. On a monthly basis, however, sales fell 28.9% from September.
The report also noted that registrations of new Tesla vehicles rose across several European markets in October, extending a rebound in regional sales, and that Tesla led imported car sales in South Korea, a market that accounted for one fifth of Shanghai-made Tesla exports in the first nine months of the year. Tesla also lowered its annual capital expenditure outlook by a fifth and reported positive third-quarter free cash flow, while a potential merger between Tesla and SpaceX would likely face regulatory scrutiny in both the US and China, the report said.
