The FBI and Georgia law enforcement officials announced Monday the arrest of a suspect in Buffalo, New York, accused of making a death threat against Georgia Senate GOP candidate Mike Collins and his son-in-law. The suspect, identified by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office as Anthony Lantrell Bennett, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of terroristic threats. According to the sheriff's office, Bennett acknowledged making the threats, which officials determined were connected to inaccurate online information. FBI Buffalo Special Agent-in-Charge Allen D. Davis II emphasized that state lines do not protect those who threaten violence and highlighted the importance of law enforcement partnerships. Collins thanked law enforcement for their swift action and suggested that his opponent, Senator Jon Ossoff, bore some responsibility for the incident, citing what he called "irresponsible game" of mixing false accusations with inflammatory rhetoric. An Ossoff campaign spokesperson stated that Senator Ossoff condemns all threats of violence.
