Sogang University reports 180,000 personal data records leaked in cyberattack

Officials at the university stated they became aware of the breach on Friday, three days after the attack occurred. The school has since implemented emergency measures, including blocking the IP address used in the attack. The incident has been reported to the Personal Information Protection Commission and the education ministry.

Notably, former President Park Geun-hye, an alumna of Sogang University, is believed to be among those whose data was compromised. A check on a website designed to identify data leaks confirmed that her student ID, previously made public during her 2007 presidential campaign, was affected.

The university is collaborating with an external cybersecurity firm to strengthen its monitoring systems and prevent further damage.
