Sky News has revamped its flagship Sunday morning current affairs program, introducing a new format that features a rotating lineup of high-profile guest presenters. The show, now titled "Sunday Morning with…," aims to offer a broader spectrum of voices and perspectives on political and current affairs.
The new format launched on Sunday, September 6, with journalist and broadcaster Jon Sopel hosting the first episode. Subsequent weeks will feature broadcaster Rachel Johnson, broadcaster and Fortune Executive Editorial Director Kamal Ahmed, political journalist Kate McCann, and journalist and author Helen Lewis. Further presenters are expected to be announced in the lead-up to Christmas.
This change follows the departure of Trevor Phillips, who hosted the program for three years before moving to CBS News. The revamped show will retain its focus on politics and major interviews, while also expanding its scope beyond Westminster to cover issues and ideas relevant across the UK. The program will feature a refreshed studio environment designed to encourage lively discussion and natural exchanges.
David Rhodes, Executive Chairman of Sky News, stated that the new format will present "the widest range of voices in the political market" while upholding "the highest standards of trusted journalism."
The 90-minute show airs Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and will be available across Sky News platforms, including its app, website, and social media. Sky News reported a 29% year-on-year increase in monthly video views.
