Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles early Thursday, according to Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the capital's military administration. Explosions were heard in the city, and air strike alerts were issued across most of Ukraine. Tkachenko urged residents to seek safety.
This marks the second air attack on Kyiv this week. A previous major Russian assault resulted in 10 deaths and damaged a 1,000-year-old monastery, which Russia denied striking.
Concurrently, Ukrainian drones targeted a Moscow oil refinery for the second time in days, with Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reporting that over five dozen drones were downed, though some reached the refinery and caused minor damage to a shopping center. The attacks have disrupted Russian energy facilities and contributed to a fuel shortage.
President Zelenskiy stated he had discussed ending the war with U.S. President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, and other leaders on the sidelines of a G7 meeting. He described the talks as a "coordinating conversation."
