Robinhood Markets has officially launched its cryptocurrency trading services in the United Kingdom, offering zero-fee trading on over 50 digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP. The expansion, which began rolling out this week to eligible customers, is facilitated through a partnership with the Bitstamp exchange. This move integrates crypto trading into Robinhood's existing UK app, which already offers stocks, ISAs, options, and futures, aiming to provide a comprehensive investment platform.
As part of the launch, Robinhood is introducing "Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto," a generative AI-powered tool designed to analyze breaking news, market data, and technical indicators. This feature aims to help users understand the key factors influencing the price movements of individual crypto assets.
The company stated that its new offering provides a transparent, low-cost alternative to existing UK platforms, which it claims often use opaque pricing and wide spreads. Robinhood secured the necessary crypto registration from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), enabling legal operation and compliance with anti-money laundering requirements.
The announcement led to a premarket jump in Robinhood's stock (HOOD), which closed up 2.84% on Friday. Analysts at Bernstein maintain a $160 price target on the stock, citing potential growth in areas like Robinhood Chain and tokenized stocks.
