Revolut, the UK-based fintech company, is planning to offer stablecoin services through its future US bank, which is expected to launch in 2027. Customers will have access to FDIC-insured accounts, multi-currency deposits, stock trading, and cryptocurrency services. US CEO Cetin Duransoy stated the bank will initially target retail and business customers with international banking needs, particularly those managing multiple currencies. Revolut applied for a national bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in March 2026, replacing an earlier plan to acquire an existing US bank. This application allows Revolut to offer federally insured banking products nationwide under a unified federal regulatory framework. The move aligns with a more open approach from US regulators towards crypto-related banking applications, with other firms like Nubank, Crypto.com, and Kraken also receiving approvals or access to payment systems. The global stablecoin market has grown to approximately $319.5 billion, and Revolut is already active in this space outside the US. Other financial firms like SoFi, Falcon Finance, and MoneyGram have also recently launched their own stablecoins.
