Nigel Farage is facing significant criticism for his reaction to the murder of Henry Nowak. Critics, including Labour leader Keir Starmer, accuse the Reform UK leader of exploiting the tragedy to advance a 'culture war' agenda, rather than offering 'sober reflection' or respecting the bereaved family's plea. The case has also brought to light alleged serious failures in police judgment. These issues culminated in a violent police protest at an event connected to Henry Nowak, prompting condemnation from religious leaders. Sir Keir Starmer echoed the words of Henry Nowak's father to plead for unity in the wake of the 18-year-old student's death. Disorder broke out in Southampton on Tuesday in the wake of the murder of Henry Nowak.
Amnesty International's reaction to the murder of Henry Nowak has also drawn criticism. The organization has been noted for its condemnation of 'political commentary' surrounding the case, while remaining silent on the police's actions towards Nowak as he lay dying. Critics, such as MEP Charlie Weimers and commentator Lauren Chen, have accused Amnesty International of being morally bankrupt and politically biased, particularly given its pro-migration stance and funding from the Open Society Foundation. The article draws parallels between the Nowak case and the George Floyd case, suggesting a double standard in Amnesty International's responses. Protesters in Southampton chanted "I can't breathe" in front of the police station, protesting the treatment of Nowak. The murder weapon was reportedly found at the family home, and Nowak's mother is due to be sentenced for removing it from the crime scene. Rupert Lowe, leader of Restore Britain, has gained attention for proposing the death penalty for killers like Digwa, a proposal supported by Elon Musk.
The Reform UK leader likened the 18-year-old student's final moments in Southampton to those of George Floyd who similarly cried 'I can't breathe' before his death in the US in 2020.
