Pope Leo XIV's health and his ability to travel are of interest to the global Catholic community and followers of interfaith dialogue.
Pope Leo XIV has canceled a planned trip to Assisi next week on doctors' advice against helicopter travel as he recovers from lung cancer surgery. The Vatican stated the decision was made to facilitate his recovery from the operation, which took place last week. The pope had been due to attend an event marking the 40th anniversary of St. John Paul II’s World Day of Prayer for Peace. He will instead send a message to the gathering. Doctors confirmed he was recovering well following a follow-up chest X-ray.
