Paul Pelosi, 86, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, faces misdemeanor charges for a hit-and-run collision in Napa County, California. The incident occurred Friday when Pelosi struck a legally parked car on the side of the road and drove away, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s department. A witness observed the collision and alerted authorities.
Deputies located Pelosi and his vehicle, which sustained damage to the front, approximately a quarter-mile from the collision site. Pelosi reportedly told officers he knew he hit something but was not sure when or what caused the damage. Authorities confirmed he had no alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
Given no injuries were reported, the sheriff’s department is recommending misdemeanor charges for fleeing the scene of an accident. The case is also being referred to the California Department of Motor Vehicles for a review of his driving privileges, a process described as common for older drivers.
This incident follows a 2022 conviction where Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges in Napa County. He was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation, serving two days and receiving credit for two others, leaving one day to serve in a courthouse work program. As part of his probation, he was also required to attend a three-month drinking driver class, install an ignition interlock device, and pay approximately $5,000 in restitution and nearly $2,000 in fines. In that same year, an intruder attacked him in his and Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home.
