Iambic Therapeutics, a drug developer leveraging artificial intelligence and backed by Nvidia, is planning an initial public offering (IPO) in the US with the aim of raising up to $159.4 million. The offering could value the company at as much as $805.8 million, according to a regulatory filing. The biotech sector is currently experiencing renewed investor interest, driven by the application of AI in drug discovery and development.
Iambic is offering approximately 9.38 million shares at a price range of $15 to $17 per share. Investment firms ARK Investment Management and Duquesne Family Office have expressed interest in acquiring shares worth $60 million. Founded in 2019 as Entos, Iambic utilizes its AI platform to advance a pipeline of drug candidates targeting solid tumors and has established partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies such as AbbVie and Takeda Pharmaceutical.
According to Kat Liu, vice president at IPOX, Iambic is best characterized as a clinical-stage biotech company with an AI-enhanced drug discovery platform, rather than a pure AI company. She noted that the company's valuation is primarily dependent on its pipeline strength and the likelihood of regulatory approval and commercial success.
The planned IPO comes at a time when the fall IPO market has seen several delays due to rising Treasury yields and market volatility, which have made investors more cautious. Concerns about an overheated AI trade and ongoing geopolitical tensions have further reduced market appetite, making biotech a notable exception in drawing investor interest. Iambic Therapeutics intends to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "IAM", with J.P.Morgan, Jefferies, BofA Securities, and Citigroup serving as lead underwriters.
