Mississippi released video footage on Thursday showing the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley by a police officer, an incident for which state authorities have cleared the officer of criminal wrongdoing. The shooting occurred on June 14, 2026, when Senatobia police officer Sergeant Hunter Foster fired into a moving vehicle while responding to a shoplifting call. The Mississippi Attorney General's office announced this week that its month-long review found the use of force to be justified. Video shows five law enforcement officers rushing out of a Walmart and surrounding a silver sedan after being informed a shoplifter was attempting to drive away. The driver, identified as a friend of Wiley's mother, nearly hit an officer before shots were fired into the car. Kohen Wiley was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The family, represented by attorney Ben Crump, disputes the official account and has called for transparency, stating that footage from the store's self-checkout counter would show the items were paid for. Wiley's mother alleged she held up her son to show officers a baby was in the car, but they fired anyway. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation had previously investigated the incident.
