Meta is enhancing Facebook with a suite of new AI-powered features designed to improve user experience and engagement. The most significant update is "AI Mode," a novel search functionality that utilizes Meta AI to provide synthesized answers drawn from public posts, Groups, and Reels. This aims to offer users direct answers rather than a list of search results.
Beyond search, Facebook is introducing AI-driven editing tools for videos and photos. Users can now apply AI-powered presets to alter their appearance, such as changing clothes or hairstyles, and utilize editing tools for video montages. These features extend to Stories, allowing users to virtually "wear" team jerseys, and profile pictures, which can be restyled using AI.
These recent additions build upon Meta's ongoing integration of AI into Facebook. Earlier features include animated profile pictures and an AI assistant for the Marketplace that automatically responds to buyer messages. For content creators, a new AI assistant provides personalized suggestions on optimal posting times and summarizes audience comments.
The company's strategy appears to be focused on making Facebook more "sticky" and useful through AI, while also diversifying revenue. Alongside these feature rollouts, Meta has launched global subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, with further AI-related subscription tiers reportedly planned.
