Chris Laaveg, Lockwood's sales manager, stated that PGS Equipment's dedication to serving growers with equipment, service, and education makes them ideally positioned for the region. He highlighted Lockwood's commitment to high standards of after-sales service and expressed confidence that PGS will grow Lockwood's presence in Alberta. Lockwood has been represented in Alberta for decades, but the territory has recently been reassigned to PGS.
Frank Michielsen, general manager of PGS Equipment, noted that the Lockwood deal fills a gap in their product offerings and that local potato producers are pleased with the increased availability of potato equipment. Statistics Canada data indicates that Alberta produced 27.1% of Canada's potatoes in 2025, maintaining its position as the leading producer, with much of this output originating from irrigated fields in the Taber region. Laaveg mentioned that Lockwood's Air Cup Planter technology will be introduced in the spring, with harvesters available in the fall.
