President Lee Jae Myung has instructed the government to explore safe access to the abortion pill mifepristone, even without a legal framework. This directive comes as Lee was set to begin receiving briefings from all government ministries and agencies on the progress of their policy tasks. The policy briefings, which will cover 140 government ministries and agencies over nine sessions through early August, mark the second round of such reviews since Lee took office. The first round of policy briefings was held in late 2025. Each session will include about 20 "public observers" who can ask questions and make proposals alongside the president.
