Bio-energy is emerging as a central element of India's strategy for green growth and energy transition, according to the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI). The council highlighted that the sector is poised to play a significant role in the nation's shift towards sustainable energy sources.
On June 12, TPCI organized a gathering of policymakers, diplomats, industry leaders, energy experts, and innovators to discuss strategies for accelerating India's progress toward sustainable and energy-secure growth. The organization has since established a Bio-Energy Committee. This committee aims to unite stakeholders across the bio-energy sector, promote discussions on necessary policy and regulatory reforms, and propose frameworks to speed up adoption and attract investment.
TPCI Chairman Mohit Singla stated that the goal is to bolster India's bio-energy ecosystem and align industry objectives with national climate commitments, including the pledge for net-zero emissions. He stressed the need for collaboration between government, industry, and academia to ensure innovation, affordability, and scalability in the sector.
