A GEO Group employee working at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing center in Aurora, Colorado, was arrested on suspicion of shooting and wounding a woman protesting outside the facility. The incident occurred Thursday evening when protesters had blocked the entrance to the facility. Police stated that Brandon Booth, 42, fired a single shot from his personal handgun in the direction of two female protesters after a verbal confrontation, striking one of them in the lower body. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Booth was taken into custody a short distance away. Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain stated that violence will not be tolerated in the city. ICE operations have faced scrutiny following recent fatal shootings by ICE agents.
