Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, has stated that acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and other Trump administration officials are likely to face subpoenas on "day one" if the Democratic party regains control of the House after the midterm elections. Garcia indicated that a more in-depth probe into those associated with deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein would commence under a Democratic majority.
During an interview with NOTUS, Garcia expressed that Republicans appear to have concluded their investigations, noting that Todd Blanche has stated the investigation is over and that "the president's called it a hoax." Garcia suggested this direction likely originates from the White House.
Garcia recently stated that House Democrats would seek to subpoena Vice President Vance regarding his handling of Epstein files, following a report detailing a Situation Room meeting about fallout from documents tied to the financier. Garcia and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) "disagree very strongly" on the committee's focus, according to Garcia. He emphasized the importance of investigating Epstein's financial records and estate documents.
Furthermore, Garcia highlighted "Trump family corruption" as a significant area for potential investigations by a Democrat-led House Oversight Committee. He pointed to concerns regarding the Trump family's cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial, government contracts awarded to close allies, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner's investment fund backed by Middle Eastern sovereign wealth, calling these matters "pure government corruption."
