Elon Musk's super PAC, America PAC, has begun its general election spending by allocating over $800,000 to more than a dozen key congressional races, primarily supporting Republican candidates facing close contests in the midterm elections. The PAC, funded by Musk with a $50 million war chest and a target of up to $120 million, reported its initial expenditures for the 2026 election cycle, focusing on direct-mail and other campaign materials in battleground states like Texas.
The largest single expenditure was $247,595 for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's Senate race. Other significant contributions included $170,224 for Senator Susan Collins and $105,675 for materials for Senator Jon Husted's campaign. The PAC also supported Senator Dan Sullivan and several Republican House representatives who sit on committees relevant to Musk's companies, such as the Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Homeland Security committees.
The spending has drawn criticism from Democrats, with the PAC reportedly spending over $90,000 on materials opposing New Hampshire Senate candidate Chris Pappas. Pappas' campaign manager stated that "MAGA Republicans like Elon Musk are trying to buy this Senate seat for John Sununu because they know he would be a rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s toxic agenda."
