- WHO investigating possible link to a case in Kenya.
- Nigeria's health minister stated the case remains contained.
A Swiss woman, the first confirmed Ebola patient in Nigeria, has not travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the Swiss foreign ministry. This contradicts earlier accounts and raises concerns about the containment of the outbreak, which has spread to five countries: the DRC, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, and France. The patient is believed to have contracted the virus in Uganda, possibly through contact with an Ebola patient in Kenya, as both travelled from Uganda's Entebbe airport on October 3. The World Health Organization is investigating the exact source of infection. Nigeria's health minister stated the case remains contained and contact-tracing is ongoing.
