Jazz Chisolm Jr. drove in three runs, including a two-run triple in the first inning, as the New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians 8-4 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep. Carlos Rodón shook off a leadoff home run to pitch six solid innings, improving his career record against Cleveland to 11-5.
The Yankees stopped Cleveland’s streak of not being swept at 31 consecutive series, marking the longest current stretch in the American League. The Guardians had not been swept since August 2025.
Chisolm’s triple in the first inning came after rookie Parker Messick (6-3) allowed a runner to reach base on a wild pitch. The Yankees later broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the sixth inning, chasing Messick from the game.
Rodón (2-2) allowed a home run to Angel Martinez on his second pitch but settled in, giving up four hits. This was only his sixth start since undergoing offseason elbow surgery.
Trent Grisham also contributed, tripling with one out in the second inning and scoring on a throwing error by David Fry.
