A Chinese court on Tuesday handed Jin Xiangjun, former governor of the coal-producing province of Shanxi, a death sentence with a two-year reprieve over corruption charges. The Xinyang Intermediate People’s Court in Henan province ruled that Jin abused his power over two decades across three provinces to secure lucrative project contracts, orchestrate business deals and facilitate political promotions.
