ARK Invest has launched a tokenized version of its ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) on the Ethereum blockchain through a partnership with Securitize. The move aims to provide qualified investors with access to a portfolio of private and public technology companies via blockchain technology.
The launch of a tokenized fund by ARK Invest, a prominent asset manager, signals a growing trend of traditional finance integrating with blockchain technology to offer new investment avenues and potentially increase accessibility to private markets.
Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest has launched a tokenized version of its ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) on the Ethereum blockchain, in partnership with Securitize. This initiative allows eligible investors to access a portfolio of private and public technology companies through blockchain technology.
ARKVX is an actively managed interval fund focused on long-term capital growth from disruptive innovation. Its current investments include OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, and Databricks, though holdings are subject to change. Through Securitize, investors can access tokenized interests representing their investment in ARKVX, which is not tokenizing individual portfolio companies and is not readily available for public trade.
Cathie Wood stated that placing ARKVX onchain aligns with ARK's goal of expanding access to technology-focused investment products and offers a new way to access private and public markets. Securitize will manage the onchain issuance and investor experience, with potential for expansion to other blockchain networks in the future.
This launch builds on ARK Invest's October 2025 strategic investment of $10 million in Securitize, focusing on regulated tokenized securities and integrating more investment products with blockchain infrastructure. Securitize will provide daily net asset values (NAVs) and facilitate trading of eligible fund interests on blockchain-based markets, subject to regulatory restrictions.
Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo highlighted that the structure provides investors with fund-level exposure to multiple private technology companies. This partnership also offers ARK Invest a blockchain distribution system while maintaining its existing investment strategy for ARKVX.
The move into tokenization follows ARK Invest's recent equity purchases, including approximately $37.4 million in Block shares and $3.36 million in Circle shares in August, which added exposure to payments and stablecoin businesses. The launch also comes after the SEC's September innovation exemption for certain tokenized U.S. stocks, which allows qualifying on-chain venues to trade tokenized NMS stocks under specific conditions.
