Caffè Nero is expanding into the high-protein beverage market through a new collaboration with sports nutrition brand Myprotein. The coffee chain will offer two new high-protein iced drinks, the Iced Vanilla Protein Matcha Latte and the Iced Vanilla Protein Latte, across its more than 600 UK stores.
The drinks are designed to meet growing consumer demand for functional beverages. Each serving contains between 24g and 25g of protein and is under 160 calories. The Iced Vanilla Protein Latte uses Caffè Nero's Classico coffee blend, while the Matcha Latte features ceremonial grade matcha, both combined with skimmed milk, sugar-free vanilla flavoring, and Myprotein's protein powder.
This initiative builds on Caffè Nero's success with iced beverages, which saw sales grow by 52% in the last financial year and now account for 14.7% of total drinks sales, up from 8.1% five years ago. Myprotein, owned by THG, is also expanding its presence beyond core sports nutrition into retail and foodservice, with previous collaborations including Krispy Kreme and Mars Wrigley brands.
Further product developments are anticipated in January as part of the ongoing partnership.
