SAO PAULO, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva are statistically tied in a simulated runoff ahead of next month's election, an AtlasIntel/Bloomberg poll showed on Thursday. The eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro would receive 46.4% of the vote in a second-round runoff, compared with 46.2% for Lula, the poll showed. In late August, Lula led the senator 47.1% to 42.6%. AtlasIntel surveyed 5,000 people between September 4 and 9. The poll has a margin of error of 1 percentage point.
An AtlasIntel poll released on Wednesday showed President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Workers’ Party tied with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro of the Liberal Party in a potential second round of Brazil’s presidential election. The survey put Lula at 46.2% and Flávio at 46.3%, a statistical tie. In the previous round, the figures were 49.2% and 44.9%, respectively. The poll was conducted from September 19 through September 24 and has a margin of error of one percentage point. AtlasIntel interviewed 4,986 people for the survey.
In a July poll, Lula was seen with 47.1% of votes in a second-round runoff, compared with 42.6% for Flavio Bolsonaro, son of ex-President Jair Bolsonaro.
