BlackRock is expanding its tokenized offerings by bringing select European money market funds to market via JPMorgan's blockchain infrastructure. The initiative will leverage JPMorgan's Kinexys platform to tokenize shares of BlackRock's Institutional Cash Series funds, which manage approximately $311 billion in total across pound sterling, euro, and US dollar denominations. These tokens will represent ownership in the underlying money market funds and will be transferable around the clock between approved digital wallets. JPMorgan will also continue to act as the transfer agent for these funds. BlackRock has observed interest from various market participants, including digital wallet providers and corporate treasurers, for more efficient collateral management and intra-company payments. This move follows BlackRock's earlier entry into the tokenized cash management space with its US dollar-denominated fund, BUIDL, launched in 2024, which has since grown to $2.67 billion in assets.
