Apple said on November 6, 2026 that more than 100,000 apps built for its foldable iPhone Duo are now available on the App Store, and that thousands more are being added each day. The company paired the announcement with the release of over a dozen more apps optimized for the device, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, Etsy, LTK, Goodnotes, Extra, and the Halide Mark III camera app. These join previously available Duo-optimized apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Apple said over 2,000 developers attended more than 50 in-person workshops across 19 cities, where they could use the Duo and work on their apps with Apple's support. The device, which starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model, sold out within hours of orders opening, and ship times have shifted into the next year. On its earnings call that week, Apple said it is "hard to predict" when supply constraints causing the delays will improve.
"It's been wonderful to see how quickly developers have embraced iPhone Duo, and we're grateful for their creativity and innovation," said Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, in a statement. "The enthusiasm has been incredible, and we're excited to see the pace of updates continue to accelerate as more and more apps optimize for iPhone Duo," she added.
Apps not optimized for the Duo show a black bar on the side of the screen and sometimes hide functions under an overflow menu, the report said. Not all of the listed updates have fully rolled out; Spotify still showed the black bar on the review unit and the App Store did not yet list an update, the report said.
