Digital asset company AllUnity has launched SEKAU, a stablecoin pegged to the Swedish krona, operating under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The token is classified as a regulated e-money token and is backed 1:1 by segregated Swedish krona reserves, aiming to serve institutional settlement and cross-border payment needs.
Banking Circle, a Luxembourg-based financial infrastructure provider, will manage the reserves for SEKAU, while Swedish Marginalen Bank acts as a banking partner. Trust Anchor Group is providing infrastructure integration for broader ecosystem access.
SEKAU debuts on five blockchain networks: Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, and Polygon, with plans for further expansion. This multi-chain approach is intended to enhance access, interoperability, and liquidity. AllUnity's existing stablecoin offerings include the Swiss franc-backed CHFAU and the euro-backed EURAU, which launched in 2025 and has reached a market capitalization of $1.4 million.
AllUnity emphasizes that SEKAU is the first fully reserved Swedish krona-denominated stablecoin compliant with MiCA. The company noted that while Sweden's Riksbank is exploring a central bank digital currency (e-krona), it is fundamentally different from a stablecoin, and no Swedish krona stablecoins were previously confirmed as MiCA-authorized.
