Alchemy, a leading AI developer and infrastructure platform, has launched AgentCard, a virtual payment card designed for AI agents. This platform integrates with Visa Intelligent Commerce, enabling AI agents to conduct online purchases on behalf of consumers for tasks like booking travel or renewing subscriptions. AgentCard provisions AI agents with a Visa payment token, a dedicated email address, a phone number, and a crypto wallet through a single API, allowing them to leverage existing Visa benefits. The platform supports AI agents from various providers and can be set up in under a minute. Key features include spend controls like merchant category restrictions, per-transaction limits, and customizable budgets. While transactions default to tokenized card payments, the platform also supports emerging agent payment protocols and crypto payments. Alchemy emphasizes enterprise-grade security for AgentCard. Nikil Viswanathan, Co-founder & CEO of Alchemy, stated that AI agents represent the next major economic actor, and Tanner Riche from Visa highlighted the need for trusted identity and seamless transaction methods as AI agents become more involved in commerce.
