Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones's trial for indecent assault and sexual touching has commenced in Sydney. Complainant J testified that Jones befriended him as a teenager after he broke a record, subsequently inviting him to his apartment and allegedly gifting him a mobile phone, a car, and up to $600 weekly. During one visit, J alleged Jones commented on an athlete's penis size before kissing him on the lips without consent. Jones, 85, has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges, including 20 counts of indecent assault and two of sexual touching, allegedly occurring between 2003 and 2020. His defense barrister suggested media rivals, including Ray Hadley and Peter FitzSimons, encouraged complainants to make allegations. The trial is expected to hear from six complainants and 76 witnesses over four months.
