Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has rebranded its crypto fund to a16z Frontier, signaling an expansion of its investment focus to include artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. The firm confirmed in an email to subscribers on Thursday that it will continue to invest in crypto and related ventures, as well as engage in regulatory advocacy. Chris Dixon, a general partner, stated that the firm's strategy is to define companies by their actions rather than the underlying technology, as blockchains have become more integrated into mainstream products. Dixon will co-lead the renamed fund with a16z founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, along with general partners Eddy Lazzarin and Guy Wuollet. The firm previously announced raising over $15 billion across its funds in January.
