Williams Tower, a prominent office building located next to The Galleria in Houston, has been acquired by its primary tenant, Williams Cos., for over $300 million. This transaction represents the largest single-property office sale in Houston since 2019, according to Green Street News.
Williams Cos. purchased the 64-story, 1.4 million-square-foot building from Williams Tower LP, an entity associated with Invesco Real Estate. Invesco had originally acquired the property in 2013 for $412 million, but its recent appraisal valued it at close to $287 million.
While Williams Cos. currently has no plans to relocate its headquarters from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Houston, Glen Jasek, a senior vice president at the company, stated that the acquisition is an investment in its people and future in Houston. Owning the tower will provide flexibility for growth and allow for a greater role in the community.
The tower is currently 83% leased, and Williams Cos. intends to reserve additional space for its own future expansion. The company plans to increase its Houston workforce by 100 employees by the end of the year, adding to its existing base of over 700.
Williams established its presence in Houston in 1995 and the tower was later renamed in its honor. Houston has seen a significant increase in office sales, with $1.1 billion recorded in the first half of 2026, up from $876 million in the same period last year. Private investors and owner-users have been driving these deals, acquiring properties at substantial discounts.
