A Ukrainian military intelligence officer has confessed to killing a woman suspected of attempting to assassinate Ukrainian businessman Vadym Iermolaiev in Monaco, according to Ukrainian law enforcement.
The Prosecutor’s Office and the Security Service (SBU) stated on July 7 that the body of Anastasia Berezovska, identified as the suspect in the June 29 assassination attempt, had been found.
Authorities reported that Berezovska arrived in Ukraine on July 1, 2026. Investigators identified individuals she had been in contact with, including a former law enforcement officer and an active officer with Ukraine's military intelligence agency (HUR).
Due to cryptocurrency and bank transfers made to Berezovska, both men were examined as potential suspects. The active HUR officer confessed to killing Berezovska along with the other suspect, claiming he acted independently and without his superiors' knowledge.
