Ukrainian forces have successfully disabled the port of Mariupol, a critical logistics hub for Russia in occupied southern Ukraine, according to the National Guard's 1st Azov Corps. The operation, conducted on June 10, targeted key infrastructure including electrical substations, radar equipment, repair facilities, a control tower, and fuel storage tanks. The sanctioned cargo vessel Lady Augusta was also struck.
As a result of the attack, the port is now without power, significantly disrupting Russian military logistics in the region. The operation was a joint effort involving the Security Service of Ukraine's (SBU) regional directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, the SBU's Alpha special operations unit, and Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces.
Mariupol has been a vital link for Russian operations, connecting occupied Donetsk Oblast, Crimea, and Russia, and has been used to transport military cargo. This strike is the latest in Ukraine's ongoing campaign to degrade Russian logistics in the area. Previous operations in May included drone strikes on roads and highways around Mariupol, which are key Russian military supply routes.
