Ukraine has successfully struck a Russian factory producing key components for drones, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Progress plant in Cheboksary, located in Russia's Chuvash Republic, was targeted by several Ukrainian Flamingo FP-5 missiles, which traveled over 1,000 kilometers.
The facility manufactures Kometa antennas, essential for Russian drones and missiles to bypass Ukrainian air defenses during strikes. This marks the second successful attack on the Progress plant in just over a month, following a strike on its administrative building on May 5.
Chuvashia Governor Oleg Nikolayev confirmed an attack on Cheboksary, reporting three injuries. While he did not specify the exact buildings hit, independent media, using social media videos, traced the strike to the Progress plant.
Zelenskyy thanked the Ukrainian Armed Forces for their precision in the operation, confirming it hit a plant supplying components for drones and missiles. The Kometa antennas, particularly their upgraded version introduced in early 2025 with anti-jamming capabilities, have posed significant challenges to Ukrainian defense systems.
Denys Shtilierman, co-owner and chief constructor of Fire Point, the company producing the Flamingo missiles, stated in April that production was sufficient and that an EU loan would enable a continuous flow of missiles.
