The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on June 18, 2026, that Russia has sustained approximately 1,388,050 troops since the full-scale invasion commenced on February 24, 2022. This figure includes 1,370 casualties reported for the preceding day.
In addition to personnel losses, the report detailed significant equipment losses for Russian forces, including 12,038 tanks, 24,779 armored combat vehicles, 108,425 vehicles and fuel tanks, 44,240 artillery systems, 1,877 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,431 air defense systems, 436 aircraft, 353 helicopters, 357,589 drones, 1,684 unmanned ground vehicles, 33 ships and boats, and two submarines.
Ukraine's General Staff has maintained operational secrecy regarding its own losses during the conflict. However, independent Western think-tank reports, such as one from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in January 2026, suggest that Russian casualties significantly exceed those of Ukraine. CSIS estimated the casualty ratio to be "roughly 2.5:1 or 2:1," with Ukraine likely suffering between 500,000 and 600,000 casualties from February 2022 to December 2025, including an estimated 100,000 to 140,000 killed in action.
