A Ukrainian drone attack on Thursday killed one person and ignited a fire at a sea terminal in the southern Russian port of Temryuk, located in the Krasnodar region. Governor Veniamin Kondratiev announced the incident via the Telegram messaging app.
This strike is part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign to target Russia's energy infrastructure amid stalled peace talks to resolve the war. Temryuk, a significant export hub for liquefied hydrocarbon gas, was previously targeted by Ukrainian drones in late May, when Kyiv's security service reported striking a gas terminal.
In a separate incident, a drone strike on Saturday reportedly caused a fire in an industrial area within the Kotovo district of the Volgograd region. Regional authorities, citing Governor Andrei Bocharov, confirmed the fire but did not provide details on the damage or the specific facilities affected. Earlier, on June 1, Reuters reported that the Lukoil-owned Volgograd oil refinery had suspended operations following a Ukrainian drone attack on May 29.
The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 41 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones across several areas. Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian refineries, storage sites, and export terminals in recent months, aiming to weaken Moscow's war economy.
