Spain will have its full squad available for its World Cup opener against Cape Verde on Monday, with key players returning from injury. Forward Víctor Muñoz rejoined training on Friday, a day after Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams also returned to practice. Yamal, a young Barcelona winger, had injured his left hamstring in April, while Williams sustained a hamstring injury in May. Both players missed the remainder of their club seasons to recover for the World Cup. Mikel Merino and Fabián Ruiz also dealt with prior injury setbacks before rejoining the squad. However, Barcelona midfielder Fermín López will miss the tournament with a fractured foot. Spain won its only World Cup title in 2010 and is looking to improve on its round of 16 exit in 2022. The team has been training in Tennessee and recently won the 2024 European Championship and the 2023 Nations League.
