OIC Condemns Somaliland's Jerusalem Embassy Plan

The OIC affirmed that Israel, as the occupying power, holds no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem and that any measures aimed at altering the city's political, legal, or demographic status are null and void under international law. The organization also reaffirmed its full solidarity with Somalia and its unwavering support for the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Arab League has also condemned Somaliland's plan to open an embassy in Jerusalem. Discussions between the Arab League Secretary-General and the President of Somalia focused on regional stability and a coordinated response to Somaliland's controversial move, which they viewed as a threat to regional consensus. Both leaders emphasized the necessity of safeguarding Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The OIC called on the international community to take a firm stance against this illegal move and to counter it, urging countries to reject any attempt to confer international legal status on an unrecognized separatist entity.
